In 1969 Shelby underwent significant changes in styling giving 69/70 Shelbys one of the most unique and finest looks for the muscle car era. Ford was out not only to deliver the powerful race car the Shelby name was known for but also to deliver it with luxury and comfort consumers of the time wanted. The 1969/1970 Shelbys are the most unique of the time being the only cars to receive a complete fiberglass front end, deck lid, tail panel, and end caps which were assembled at Ford’s A.O Smith Plant after these cars left Ford Dearborn. Under the hood Ford continued with the powerful 428 Cobra Jet and Super Cobra Jet engines capable of producing over 335 horsepower and running under 14 second 1/4 miles, making these 69/70 Shelbys the ultimate pony car.

Today Cobra Jet Convertibles have recently had an immense surge in interest and are becoming one of the most sought after muscle cars by high end collectors. Super Cobra Jet Convertibles are the other hand, seldom ever trade hands due to the rarity and collectability of them. This particular example (9F03R480972) is one of those rare Super Cobra Jet examples. The SCJ/Drag Pack option has several unique differences including: externally balanced 428 Super Cobra Jet Engine, unique crankshaft, counterweight damper, LeMans rods, pistons, flexplate, V Code 3.91 gears Traction-Lok nodular rear end, and comes with the addition of an oil cooler. 9F03R480972 is 1 of only 22 Shelby Drag Pack Convertibles produced in 1969, and the only one produced in the very rare and desirable color combination of Acapulco Blue with White Deluxe Interior and White Top.
