Offered for sale here at Nate’s Classic Cars is a rare 1969 Mercury Cougar Convertible. In 1969 Mercury built just 127 R Code, 428 Cobra Jet Engine, Cougar Convertibles. This particular XR-7 Cougar comes loaded with Ram Air Induction, Air Conditioning, Tilt-Away Steering Wheel, Automatic Transmission, Tint Glass, Console, Tachometer, Styled Steel Wheels, Power Black Top, Power Disc Brakes, Power Steering, Am Radio, Deluxe Belts/Warning Light, and Door Edge Guards. Originally this R Code came with the combination you see today, Dark Ivy Green Paint with Dark Ivy Gold Leather Bucket Seats.
In 1969 this R Code Cougar came with a Ram Air Induction 428 Cobra Jet mated to a C6 Automatic Transmission. Prior to purchase, the 428CJ was replaced by 351 Cleveland Engine. Although the 428CJ has been replaced, the car still contains its original 9'“ rear end and traction loc.
The current condition of this car is as it was when pulled from a barn a couple of years ago. It contains its original Dash VIN Tag, Buck Tag, Door Tag, original aprons with wrap arounds, body panels, interior, original tilt equipment, tachometer, and many more hard to find pieces. This Cougar will need a complete restoration including: a new top, floor repairs, and several other spots on the body.
